Special Congregational Meeting

How the project began

From the Church Council

The deteriorated condition of the Church parking lot has been noted by the Council. It is clear the pavement has exceeded its expected useful life of approximately 25 years. Last year the council established a committee to evaluate the situation and make recommendations.

The committee

The committee, made up of members with backgrounds in construction and maintenance met on site with a number of paving contractors to consider various solutions. Following those meetings, it was concluded that replacement of the asphalt pavement was needed.

Doing the research

Bids for that work were requested and the committee received five bids for the work. Each bid was evaluated and the apparent low bidder identified. The committee met with that bidder to verify the completeness of the bid and verify their experience and ability to complete the work.

During this time, it was noted the existing lighting of the parking lot did not adequately cover the entire area, a safety issue for evening use. Installing new lighting in the parking area would better illuminate the area improving safety and security. Incorporating the lighting with new pavement would be most efficient. Bids were received from two electrical contractors to provide 4 new poles/lights.

Church Council action

On Sunday, September 22 the Council met and voted to bring the following motion to the congregation at a Special Congregational Meeting. The meeting will take place on October 13th at 9:30 a.m.

Your presence and participation are valuable. Please make every effort to attend.

Thank you!
