Membership – Here’s how to join Trinity!
Is Trinity a good fit for me? And when should I join?
In church, as in all areas of life, there is no replacement for being surrounded by people who love you, support you, and bring out the best in you. Finding what you need in a church means different things for different people and we want to help you see if Trinity is a good fit for you. Please visit us in person or online for worship and events to see if Trinity is a community where you could spiritually grow and thrive. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO JOIN AS A MEMBER to take part in Trinity events. You are welcome to worship, participate, learn and grow as a guest.
Eventually you may start to consider Trinity your church home. When that happens, we invite you to join officially as a member. The process to do so is simple. Watch the four videos (below), fill out a form and set a time to be received as a member. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Pastor Mark who will be happy to listen and share about the congregation.
What does it mean to be a member at Trinity?
Membership is open to all people who are baptized and who would like to claim Trinity as their spiritual home. (If you haven’t been baptized, we would be happy to do that. People baptized at Trinity automatically become members.)
Being a member means you officially have a church home. It’s a place to grow in understanding of what God has done and is doing. It’s a place invested in your children’s spiritual well-being. It’s a place to share your talents and resources with God and others. It’s a statement to God and people that you wish to be part of God’s work. And it’s a place to sustain your faith during periods of trial.
From the congregation’s point of view, we consider members to be part of the group. We look to members first to help with ministry, support, and leadership. We include members on congregational communications and messages specific to their needs and interests. Members are welcome to use church facilities for their gatherings that are consistent with church purposes and that fit with the church calendar. Members are encouraged to vote at congregational meetings and are eligible to serve on council. Members are expected to encourage others in their relationship with God and people, as Trinity does our best to encourage them!
So, how do I actually make it official?
Watch the videos below (“How to Become a Member at Trinity Lutheran Church,” “What we believe – Christian faith basics,” “Membership Benefits and Responsibilities,” and “There’s a Place for You at Trinity!”)
Fill out the membership form so we have your information.
Pastor Mark will contact you (or you can contact him at any time) to see how we can best help you thrive and to arrange a date for you to join.
What happens if I join, and then I have to move,
or I just find that Trinity isn’t the
good fit I thought it was?
No worries. If you get a chance, please send us an email or give a call letting us know that you are moving on, so we can update our records. If you just don’t show up for a time that seems too long, and we don’t have a constructive way to make contact, we’ll probably quietly move you to an “inactive” status. You’ll stop getting emails and communications while we wait. If you show up and resume your participation in the congregation, we’ll quietly move you back to active member status.
